DID Manager BASIC and EXPERT

DID or Direct Inward Dialing are numbers that you have setup for your customers. "DID" numbers have particular relevance for VoIP communications. In order for people connected to the traditional PSTN network to call people connected to VoIP networks, DID numbers from the PSTN network are obtained by the administrators of the VoIP network, and assigned to a gateway in the VoIP network. The gateway will then route calls incoming from the PSTN across the IP network to the appropriate VoIP user. Similarly, calls originating in the VoIP network will appear to users on the PSTN as originating from one of the assigned DID numbers. DID numbers can be purchased in bulk from a Local Exchange Carrier or a Wholesale DID Exchange. There are also a number of DID resellers offering DID numbers for individuals and small enterprises.

The difference between BASIC and Expert mode are simply basic mode allows system users to lookup what number is assigned to what customer. Expert mode allows you to change, add, or change a number to FAX services (if setup), Also you can add in number routing from local phone companies in the event that a customer has setup their number to port forward to your gateway. More Information will be provided in the “HOW TO” section of this manual for Expert mode DID management. A customer who has a DID issued to them have almost endless management as far as what they can do with the number. For instance they can have their voicemails sent to their email address which makes retrieving messages even more convenient as well as forwarding to say their office number, of even a cellular phone if they are on the go or have their VoIP phone shut off. So communication will not cease if all is setup.
